My brain is oozing out of my ears

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 06:04:26 PM PDT

I am orchestrating what will be the sixth move in 8 years.
I used to fantasize about having a peripatetic existence after spending the first 22 years of my life in the same midwestern town.  But now I feel the urge to huddle in the corner and rock.
Only half of these moves were done without children.  The 4th was 2,200 miles with my first daughter (10 months) and pregnant with my second.  The 5th move was done just 7 months ago.
We're going back to stay in a city that we dearly love and never should have left, but not before I am driven crazy.

Kill Bill

Wed Apr 02, 2008 at 09:24:25 AM PDT

I was hesitant at first to see this movie.  I really felt like Quentin Tarantino's style was a little played out.  But then I caught it in it's entirety on the Independent Film Channel.
I know Pulp Fiction is largely seen as Tarantino's masterpiece.  Kill Bill, in my humble opinion, is the most  beautiful of his oeuver.
If you haven't seen it,  I'll try not to include any spoilers.

You've changed

I have a sister who is 2 1/2 years older than me.  When I was born, she thought Mom gave birth to me just for her.  So started the die-cast dynamic between us.  I bonded with her, even tighter than Mom.  She has always led the dance between the two of us.  A typical Alpha personality.  I idolized her for the longest time,
even though everything was on her terms.

Tenacious

This is an entry about my two year old daughter who flat out refuses to sleep in her bed.
She doesn't sleep in my bed either, or at least not until 5am which is our designated "Morning Snuggle Time".
Where does she sleep?
On the floor of her bedroom (hardwood), against the door so that she can see out of the crack.

birthday bummer

Sat Jan 05, 2008 at 09:42:44 AM PDT

I need some advice, MTers.
My youngest daughter is turning the big ONE in February.
We have recently moved back to the part of the country where both my parents and my in-laws reside.
How cool that for the first time, I can throw a birthday party for one of my kids and ALL of thier close relatives can be there.
One big problem:  Neither side of the family can stand the other side of the family.
I wanted to throw one big party, but it doesn't look like anyone would be able to put on a brave face for the event.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

My daughter is full-fledged terrible twos.  I knew it was coming, and I thought I was prepared.  I felt like we were steadily working up to this point since she was 18 months old.  That is when her little sister was born.

Tangerines

Fri Aug 24, 2007 at 07:28:02 AM PDT

My second daughter is going through teething.
I've been talking to women about the "grandma" remedies we all get passed down.
One woman at my doc's office said that tangerine juice worked wonders!

The Dog Beach

Sun Jul 15, 2007 at 10:44:24 PM PDT

I was looking for a subject that I thought would appropriately introduce me to this site.
I was tempted to start in on politics, or environmental concerns for my first diary.  However, something happened to me today that I thought would be perfect to share.
I took my family to our closest dog beach today.  We go every Sunday to treat our wonderful Rottweiler who has been diagnosed with lymphoma.  We always have a great time and so does he.  I usually strap the baby to me in the Baby Bjorn, and my husband and toddler run and play.  We all take turns throwing the frisbee for our dog.
Today as we were romping around, a couple with two small dogs off leash came walking by.  As they passed us, one of these little dogs came at my toddler nipping and snarling.  My toddler loves dogs, and was confused and scared.  My husband scooped her up and checked for any bite marks.  We were calming her down when, without so much as an apology, the couple promptly put that dog on a leash and walked down the shore away from us.
